The first Masterclass of the year kicked off its ninth edition on 14 February 2023 at the award-winning Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). This event focused on how to grow eCommerce businesses, maximising sales and making online stores profitable. At the same time allowing both new and experienced sellers to obtain the latest industry trends, expand their network and exchange ideas with more than 1,500 entrepreneurs.
Over 1,000 sellers registered and thronged the convention centre to engage with a curated line-up of speakers, breakout sessions as well as experts’ sharing and physical consultation.
Masterclass 9 started with an opening speech by Alan Chan, CEO of Lazada Malaysia who welcomed and thanked all sellers for being here. He did not miss the opportunity to also wish all attendees a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
Lazada’s two newest programmes called “Everyday Cashback” and “Seller Affiliate” were officially launched during the event. According to Alan, the new programmes are a reaffirmation of Lazada’s commitment and continuous efforts to empower sellers to build and grow their online business.
Lazada’s Everyday Cashback enables sellers to offer a more rewarding online shopping experience for customers with attractive rebates and cashback earnings for every purchase. Additionally, the Seller Affiliate program provides an additional revenue channel for sellers to earn commissions based on customer purchases made via the affiliate link.
“We are empowering sellers with the tools to maximise their business and earning potential as well as improve their business sustainability and resilience. So, it is a good start of the year and with Hari Raya coming up very soon, all this preparation is here and we bring and train the sellers now to allow them to enjoy the wave traffic that would come in soon,” he said.
Later on, the afternoon session was divided into two zones – Zone 1 for Experienced and Zone 2 for New Sellers. The topics covered in the ninth edition of Masterclass includes planning the perfect campaign, online business fundamentals, digital branding with maximum impact and core mechanics for start-ups.
Before the anticipated Lucky Draw, a Sellerbration Awards ceremony was held to honour the achievements of top-performing sellers as well as acknowledge their active participation in seller-centric education and community initiatives. A total of 42 winners were chosen based on four categories namely fashion, general merchandise, electronics and fast-moving consumer goods. Among them were Comel Store, Vogue Muslimah, Serdang Motorcycle, MHome Aircond Specialist and SOS Pharmacy.
A total of 88 Lucky Draw prizes were then distributed to winners including an Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max, Sony 65” TV, Sony ZV-1F Camera, Thermal Printers, Russell Taylors Vacuum Cleaner, URBANlite Hard Case Luggage, Russell Taylors Air Fryer and Lazada shopping vouchers.

Lazada University Masterclass is a quarterly advanced learning event exclusively for Lazada Sellers where panel speakers and industry leaders teach eCommerce insights to prepare sellers for upcoming campaigns and help them grow as successful sellers.
